My Story
Hello! My name is Lishan, and I’m a Singaporean harpist based in Boston, Massachusetts. My love for the harp has taken me all around the world, and I’m always looking for new and unexpected ways to showcase this beautiful instrument.
Recent adventures include appearing as a soloist alongside Yo-Yo Ma with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the 2024 Tanglewood Music Festival and winning First Prize at the VI Mexico International Harp Competition. I’ve also found myself sharing the stage with The Metropolitan Opera, Jacob Collier, and The Beach Boys, while my online musical experiments have reached millions of viewers worldwide. And in the midst of it all, I earned my Doctor of Musical Arts from New England Conservatory, where I was the first harpist admitted to the doctoral program.
These days, you’ll find me as Principal Harp of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, performing regularly with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, or teaching and writing about all things harp.
When I’m not with my harp, you’ll usually find me with a coffee in hand, lost in a good book, or at the boxing gym.

Orchestra + Ensembles
From symphony orchestras to chamber music and everything in between, I've had the pleasure of performing with an incredible variety of artists and ensembles. I'm currently Principal Harp of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and have also performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, The Metropolitan Opera, Borromeo String Quartet, Jacob Collier, Jon Batiste, and The Beach Boys.

Whether you're looking for something classical, contemporary, or completely unexpected, I'd love to help make your event feel uniquely yours.

Teaching
Teaching has always been incredibly rewarding for me. I love working with students to discover their strengths, explore new ideas, and achieve their individual goals. I offer private harp lessons, masterclasses, and Writing for Harp workshops for composers, both in person and online, in individual and group settings.
