My Story
Hello! My name is Lishan, and I’m a Singaporean harpist based in Boston, Massachusetts. My love for the harp has led me to countless projects and performances around the world, and I’m always looking for new and unexpected ways to showcase this beautiful instrument.
Recent adventures include appearing as a soloist alongside Yo-Yo Ma with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the 2024 Tanglewood Music Festival, winning First Prize at the VI Mexico International Harp Competition, and performing sold-out concerto appearances with the Vista Philharmonic Orchestra. I’ve also shared the stage with groups such as The Metropolitan Opera, Boston Pops, Silkroad Ensemble, and The Beach Boys. Along the way, my online musical experiments have reached millions of viewers worldwide.
I began my harp journey at age 13 and later trained at New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Royal College of Music, and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. When I’m not with my harp, you’ll usually find me with a coffee in hand, lost in a good book, or at the boxing gym.

Orchestra / Ensembles
My ensemble experience have ranged widely from orchestras, opera, musical theatre and chamber music. Notable engagements include being guest harpist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops Orchestra, Boston Lyric Opera, Portland Symphony Orchestra, the Borromeo String Quartet, The Beach Boys and Singapore Lyric Opera.

Weddings / Events
The harp can be a lovely addition to your event and I am happy to perform your favourite genre or piece on the harp. I have received requests ranging from Ode to Joy to Metallica for weddings, cocktail events and charity fundraisers, and would love to work with you to make your event unique and special.

Teaching
Teaching has always been so fulfilling as I work with the students to achieve their specific goals. I offer harp lessons, masterclasses and also Writing for Harp Workshops for composers. Teaching can occur in person or on Zoom, for individuals or groups.
