Fat Belly at Serene Centre

I love meat and I love beef so much more. I'm always on the lookout for affordable and good beef for my belly so when I kept seeing Fat Belly's meat on my social media feeds....mmmmm 🤤🤤🤤

Fat Belly is a little hole in the wall at Serene Centre. They have no signboards but instead a little light box right in front of their door with their name so it's no surprise that I missed it. You can access the restaurant from the outside of Serene Centre.

Their menu is simple with enough options to satisfy your cravings but not too many to make you indecisive. It is a typical steakhouse menu whereby the beef comes without sides and sauces and you order them as you need.

To start, we had the Baked Camembert Cheese ($13) which came with pita bread and spinach on the side. The wait was 10 minutes long but very well worth it as the cheese was so smooth and creamy with the sides balancing out the richness of the cheese. I recommend eating it quickly first as the cheese hardens back up if you take too long to enjoy it during the meal.

For our main meal we had the Nipponham Angus 150 Day Grain Fed Flat Iron ($22) and the Mayura Signature Marble Score 9+ Wagyu Tri-tip ($55). The flat iron was good and tender. They gave a generous portion for the price and I would recommend it if you are on a budget and simply want good beef. However, if there is no budget the Mayura Tri-tip is highly recommended!! The melt-in-your-mouth goodness with the perfectly charred sides made this beef experience very amazing.

To pair, we had the Bordelaise ($4) which had the right amount of sweetness and complimented the beef beautifully. The Creamed Kale ($5) was not too heavy and the Roasted Spiced Sweet Potatoes ($5) had a curry aftertaste which I liked. While the portion for $5 seemed small at first, it was a good size as it paired well with the amount of beef that we had.

Ended the night off perfectly with the Basque Burnt Cheesecake ($12) because my friend and I are just cheesecake fanatics. So cheesecake on the menu means ORDER IT!! Melty and gooey with a passionfruit sauce (we think?) and cranberries to make the cheesecake experience less heavy. I only wish there was more "burnt" aftertaste as I did not feel any, and thought that the burnt-ness would elevate the cheesecake's flavour so much more.

All in all, it was a very good night and I would recommend this place for mouth-wateringly good beef which in my opinion, was very well worth the price.
